Chi's Creations
Dreaming of unique forms in metal and stones is an enduring part of Chi Cheng Lee's creative process. Jewelry design and fabrication represents her inner passion. In her designs, Chi strives to create simple elegance, with twists of spontaneity and drama that anyone can wear on any day, at anytime. Inspired by Donna Karan, a fellow Parsons School of Design alumna who revolutionized everyday multifunctional fashion in the 80's, Chi shares the same vision for her jewelry designs.
Chi was born in Taiwan and grew up in New York City as a member of a family that included an award-winning father who painted Chinese watercolors on silk and a sister who indulged in abstract painting. She worked for over 15 years on New York's 5th Ave. and in Hong Kong at luxury house and “Jeweler to the Stars” Harry Winston, Inc., where Chi created custom jewelry lines for major Asian retailers and was Managing Director for the company’s China operations.
Chi's sense of place was centered upon her family’s arrival on Vancouver’s North Shore. Her design sensibilities are deeply rooted in the natural beauty of the ocean and mountains that surround Chi's studio-in-the-woods in West Vancouver, from where she has been dispatching small packets of joy to her Chi’s Creations® customers for the past 20 years.
